Author Spotlights Lorraine Nelson

I am very happy to be a part of Lorraine's Blog Tour. Not only is she a wonderful Lady whom I've been fortunate enough to get to know, she is also a very talented writer. I hope you enjoy this first look at her just released installment of the Thunder Creek Ranch Series. She is also doing a giveaway at every stop on the tour. Winner's choice, one of four Thunder Creek Ranch books. The winner's will be announced April 10th.

Blurb - A Cowgirl's Pride, Book 4 in the Thunder Creek Ranch series.
Leah Manning grew up among so many domineering, protective males that it left her frustrated, longing for a different life. Her family couldn't, or wouldn't, understand that she needed to dance, and she'd lived away for several years. Unknowing, she'd embroiled herself in a deadly game from which there seemed no way out. Now she was home. Would they welcome her back? What if trouble followed? Most importantly, did Cal still work the ranch?
Brian Calhoun, Cal to his friends, had hated Leah when she'd left, but hated himself even more for not going after her. Now she was back and more lovely than ever. Would his adolescent love for her return, develop into something more, or die a slow death at the hands of this new Leah?
Trouble does follow Leah home, and her ex will stop at nothing—even murder—to silence her. Will the terror draw them closer together or drive them apart forever?

Excerpt - A Cowgirl's Pride, Book 4 in the Thunder Creek Ranch series

He was so hot for her! If he didn’t get these damned jeans off soon, his erection just might pop the zipper. That’s how hard he was for her—so stiff the skin stretched tight over his cock and it ached.

She suddenly pulled free and backed away from him. He almost swore out loud in frustration, thinking she’d changed her mind, but she’d only gone to close the vertical blinds at the windows.

“Just in case,” she said, smiling a come-hither smile as she turned back to him.

He felt guilty for his unjust thoughts, but closed the distance between them in a heartbeat, relieved to have her back in his arms.

“I’ve missed you, Cal,” she said as she ran her fingers through his thick, wavy hair.

“No more than I’ve missed you. I was beginning to think you’d never come home.”

“Oh, I wanted to, so much, but it just wasn’t possible.”

“You’re here now,” he said, grabbing the hem of her sweater and pulling it over her head to expose beautifully shaped breasts enclosed in see-through peach lace. “And I’m so glad you’re back.”

He bent to suckle her nipples through the lacy cups, her mindless purr of delight going straight to his groin. If he got any harder, he’d explode. Still, he took his time, banking his desire as best he could to give her pleasure.

Slipping his hands inside the waistband, he worked her blue jeans and sexy peach colored thong down over her hips, promptly falling to his knees at the sight of her curls. He leaned forward, reaching out to touch her satiny skin, smell her spicy vanilla scent and taste the creamy essence that was Leah. He wanted—needed—all of it—all of her.

Meet Sonia Hightower Author of Afterburn

I was asked to be part of this wonderful authors Blog Tour and jumped at he chance. I just got her book and so far I am finding it a real page turner. She will be giving one of you a chance to win a PDF copy of this eBook. Just leave a comment for her on my blog and she will be picking the winner in a weeks time.

Available at:

In one swift movement, Grant grasped her by her hips and flipped her onto her back, following her body with his own till he hovered over her. His dark eyes caught her lighter ones and stared into them intently. "Something clicked with you," he said, his voice husky with emotion. "There's just something there. I knew it from the moment you popped out from under that wheel well and banged your pretty head on that wing." He traced a finger down her cheek.

She felt a stirring within her. When his finger stopped at her lips, she pursed them and kissed the tip. Grant made a wistful sound, but apparently wasn't going to be distracted. "I know with you, you won't hurt me. You have been hurt, just like me, by other people in different ways. There's a feeling of kinship right here." He touched the left side of his chest, placing his hand over his heart.

"I feel it too," Crystal whispered and, feeling a rush of desire for this man, this wondrous,kind-hearted, sexy man, she pulled his finger into her mouth. Her tongue and her eyes hinted at the other places her mouth would go, promising more to come.He replaced his finger with his mouth and, as their tongues mated, she used her body to coax him onto his back once more. She followed him, running her mouth down his neck and his chest, relishing the salty taste of his skin and the vibrations of his moans underneath her fingertips.
She had never felt this sexy, this wanted, this daring in her life. Sex in her past had consisted of awkward fumbling in the dark; heavy, sweaty grunting that ended in immediate snoring. Never before had she gone down on a man without being pressured or coaxed into doing so. Now, as she took his aroused cock in her mouth, she felt no shame, no embarrassment. She wanted to do it. As her tongue tasted him—the maleness, the muskiness, the saltiness that was the very essence of a man—her own juices began to flow again.

Do you do anything to get you into the zone to write?

No. I either feel like it or I don't. I only write when I feel like it. I used to force it, but then the writing wasn't up to par, so now, only when my mind is on it and the words are flowing.

 Which authors inspire your writing?

I really admire Bev Pettersen and Christina Courtenay. Wish I could write like them. I keep trying. LOL

What is your favorite book, character and why?

Molokai by Alan Brennert is my fave book. The heroine is suffering leprosy, but finds love and lives life to its fullest despite her traumas.

Do you prefer to write erotic or sweet?

Erotic is more fun. LOL I sometimes send myself into giggling fits.

Which famous person, living or dead, are you drawn to?

I'd love to time travel and get it on with Cary Grant most of all. I told my husband it wouldn't count (a night with CG) cause it would be like 1945 and before my husband was born. LOL Come to think of it, I may have to pen a sexy ménage story. Classic movie buff time travels to the 40s and finds herself in the arms of both Cary Grant and Humphrey Bogart. *sigh*

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Cursing at laptop with a dog in my lap.

Finish this sentence: I'll know I’ve made it when___I see a print book. ____________?

What advice would you give aspiring writers?

You may think so, but trust me, your work isn't perfect. Listen to your editor. Learn. Grow.

What do you see yourself writing in the future?

No major plot ideas at the moment, but I am doing two joint projects with two talented writers. Will finish those first.

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

The ability to brainwash. LOL. I would make people stop discriminating against others for color, handicap, sex. I'd make them see that we are all people with feelings, hearts, souls, and intelligence.

What time of the day are you at your best to write?

Nighttime is when I usually do my thing. I'm not a morning person.

And now for something completely different…

What do you look at first with an attractive man or woman, face, body or smile?

Hair. I'm all about hair. I like military cuts or short, funky dos on men. I like the clean look.

Explain your perfect day.

Coffee, leftovers in the fridge so I don't have to cook, a good submission in my editor email, sunshine and warmth, and a surprise book in the mail along with a huge royalty check. (Hasn't happened yet. LOL)

What is the most decadent desert you can’t say no to?

Cheesecake!!!!!

Do you have a favorite holiday what is it and what makes it special to you?

New Years. I like to pretend I'm leaving the bad stuff trapped in the year before. I also started a new tradition that really seems to help. My NY cousins told me to do this. Take a glass of water or a bucket of water and when the clock strikes 12, throw it, and along with it, your troubles from the year before.

What key words describe you best?

Troublemaker. LOL

BLURB:
Arthur and his Knights are back and ready to kick ass!
Merci Tramaine is not happy to be called back into service by her old boss Arthur, especially when she is charged to find her missing ex lover. Drake Monroe is Merlin reincarnated, with his powers bound by the Goddess Nimue he has become a skilled fighter, but no match for Nimue who kidnapped him determined to destroy him forever.
The bloodline of Morgan Le Fey taints Merci keeping her on the edge between light and dark, the Goddess’s wicked trap springs shut leaving both Drake and Merci racing against the clock. Passions ignite once again, but are they too late to plan a future or will they be torn from each other?
This time for eternity.

EXCERPT:
Suck it up. He dumped you, remember? Yeah, she remembered he broke it off without a backward glance. Leaving her bleeding inside, leaving a hole in her that beat a constant reminder, no matter how far she ran, how hard she tried to escape the pain. Weak, that’s what she was and she hated herself for it.

She kept him in her peripherals, quelling her relief when he rose unsteadily to his feet, not giving Nimue any warning of Drake’s unsteady progress, his closing the distance between them. If he could move, he could fight. She had to come up with something to keep Nimue distracted and she knew the best way to accomplish this would be to feed her ego.

Have to keep her talking, she chanted to herself. “Well, you see that’s the problem, Blondie. I have no wish to be the next greatest anything. I like me just the way I am. I mind my own business and no one gets into my shit. Nice, quiet and uncomplicated.”

Color rose on Nimue’s fair complexion. She’d just crossed the line, but couldn’t seem to care, even if the goddess could squash her like a bug. The only thing that mattered to her was Drake’s tall form moving ever closer toward them.

Merci’s focus on Drake’s approach slipped to full on attentiveness for a split second. In the next, Nimue grabbed her upper arm in a punishing grip, whirled her around to face Drake. Nimue flung her hand out and Drake flew back like a puppet on a string, crashing into the far wall of the warehouse with a sickening flesh-meet-cinderblock thud. He lay crumpled amidst the debris like a puppet with its strings cut.

Something snapped within Merci. Her blood scalded her veins. The taste of ash filled the back of her throat. Rage, cold and biting, filled her, coloring her vision in a red haze. Drawing energy from the earth, she channeled it up through her body, willing it to form. Her hands glowed, magic as hot as a stream of lava engulfed her. Her skin stung like the bite of a thousand fire ants as a small burst of electricity arched over her arms, snapping with pent up energy. The stench of ozone, hanging like a heavy cloud in the still air, filled the area. The force arched into Nimue, dropped her to the floor. Merci offered a feral smile while Nimue wreathed in pain against her magic. She bent down close enough for Nimue to hear her. “Since you don’t know me, I will explain this to you. You don’t fuck with what is mine. Drake, is mine.”

The Avalon:
- 3 parts vodka
- 1 part banana liquer (pisang ambon)
- 6 parts  apple juice
- 1 1/2 parts lemon juice
- 1 1/2 parts lemonaide

Author Spotlights Gabrielle Bisset

Gabrielle Bisset is a name to remember because this Lady is one serious talent. I am so happy to be able to snagg her as my guest this week. Here is a little about her wildly popular newest release.

Blood Avenged Blurb:
I am everything you desire.  I am vampire.
Powerful and manipulative, Vasilije does as he pleases. A vampire beholden to no one, he takes what he desires, drinking deeply the pleasures this life has to offer.

When one of his own is staked, Vasilije must travel to New Orleans to exact his revenge. There he meets Sasa, a beautiful woman who arouses him like no other has for centuries. Vasilije’s need for vengeance is equaled only by his passion for her, but what he finds in his revenge is just the beginning...

Blood Avenged Excerpt: Vasilije looked around the room he’d just appeared in, his body alert to any danger. He’d followed the sense he’d gotten before Teagan’s spirit had been extinguished and knew he was in his home in New Orleans. Everything about the place was Teagan—from the Turkish cigarettes he smoked, to the bottle of Guinness that sat on the coffee table, to the musky scent that identified him as one of Vasilije’s vampires.
And the beautiful woman staring at him.
     “Who did this?”
Big brown eyes stared back at him. “I don’t know. It happened so fast. I left to grab another six pack and when I got back, someone had a stake...”
Vasilije stood watching the stranger as she cried, needing more information but forced to wait until there was a break in her tears.
     “Who are you?”
The woman dried her eyes and sniffled. “Sasa. I was his girlfriend.”
At the use of the past tense, she began tearing up again, but Vasilije didn’t have time for it. Whoever had staked Teagan couldn’t have gone too far and any more time wasted with Sasa’s crying may mean he’d lose the fucker.
He moved to leave and her hand caught his arm.
     “Please don’t go.”
She looked up at him with such a sad expression for a moment he didn’t want to go. But he couldn’t let Teagan’s murderer escape. Vasilije touched his hand to hers to remove it from his arm, but all this did was make her squeeze tighter.
“Please,” she begged in a voice that matched the pathetic look in her eyes. “Don’t leave me alone now.”
The urge to tear his arm from her hold and leave her to her misery spiked in him, but it was overruled by that small part of him that understood her sadness.
“Fine. Follow me. And keep up. And if I tell you to do something, do it. Do you understand?”
For a second, she looked surprised and Vasilije thought he was going to hear a string of irritating questions. None came, though, and when he turned to head out the door, she followed silently.
At the street, he stopped and inhaled deeply, hoping to sense something that would help him find Teagan’s killer. Nothing came. But there’d been something in the apartment...something that he was sure he recognized.
Eyes closed, he let his other senses take over, but he got nothing. “What did he look like?”
“I don’t know. It was so quick. Blond, I think.”
Vasilije snapped his head to the left to look at her. “Man or woman?”
Instantly, Tatiana’s threat repeated in his head. Now I take something you cherish. Had she staked one of his vampires in retaliation over Alex? Vasilije doubted even Tatiana would stake a vampire herself, but she wasn’t above having someone else do it.
     “Man.”
That didn’t mean Tatiana wasn’t behind Teagan’s murder. And who was this woman who claimed to be Teagan’s girlfriend?
“Did you see which direction he ran?”
Sasa shook her head sadly. “No, I’m sorry. Are you his sire?”
“How do you know about that?” he asked, more suspicious than he’d been just a minute earlier.
“Teagan was a vampire, and you just look like a sire would. That’s what you call them, right?”
As she spoke, Vasilije studied her under the streetlight’s glow, still unsure she was who she claimed to be. Not bad looking, she seemed like someone Teagan could like. He’d always preferred brunettes with big eyes and bigger tits, and although she didn’t measure up to porn star level, she still had a nice body. He could see her as Teagan’s girlfriend.
“Yeah, I’m his sire and right now I need to find the fuck who killed one of my vampires,” he said looking down the street.
     “What’s your name?”
Turning to look at her, he raised one eyebrow. “You’re a curious one, aren’t you, pet?”
“Well, I think I should know your name if we’re going to work together to find Teagan’s killer.”
Vasilije continued to work on getting any sense of who he was looking for, but nothing came to him. Frustrated, he’d need time to think and find his way around this new place before he could search for the killer, and the last thing he needed was a weepy woman tagging along.
“Uh, no. We’re not going to be working together to find anything. Just point me to the nearest place I can get something to eat and I’ll be on my way.”
In a second, her hands were back on his arm and squeezing. “Please let me help. I want to see the person who did this brought to justice.”
Justice? Vasilije smiled at the idea of justice, sure she would be appalled by what he intended to do to Teagan’s killer. Humans were always more squeamish than he thought they should be, considering their own history.
“How long were you and Teagan together?”
     “Why?”
Vasilije noticed her defensiveness immediately. Her body language screamed she was hiding something.
“You just seem very attached. That’s all.”
Sasa shifted her weight between her feet. “I was. I mean, we were. Attached. And even though we had problems, we were trying to work things out.”
     “Problems?”
A sheepish look came over her face. “I forgave him and we’d have worked things out...”
Sasa’s lip quivered for just a second, and Vasilije was afraid she’d begin crying again. Teagan hadn’t changed in his new home, it seemed. A notorious ladies’ man, his wandering eye had been the reason he’d moved three thousand miles away from the only place he’d ever called home. Obviously, that relationship hadn’t survived since Sasa stood next to him all dewy eyed over his death.
     “I see.”
“It’s not like that. It doesn’t matter what you think anyway. I just owe it to him to find out who did this.”
Vasilije smiled at Sasa’s words. She was probably completely unaware that the one she’d caught her boyfriend with was likely one of many. Such blind devotion.
“Love, I don’t think you understand what’s going to happen when I find the guy who did this. My idea of justice and yours aren’t the same, I guarantee you.”
Sasa’s eyes grew wide. “Why? Is there some kind of ritual you plan to perform when you punish him?”
Vasilije’s fangs snapped into position and he grinned to show her the weapons he’d use to punish the motherfucker who killed one of his own.
“No ritual. Just these and all the blood I can handle.”
The shock at his words was written all over her face.
     “You plan to drain them?”
“My kind of justice, love. So if you plan to stick around, you know what to expect.”

And now meet the Lady behind the book Gabrielle Bisset

Do you do anything to get you into the zone to write?

I always have a glass of iced tea and Sirius Radio on before I start writing.  I hand
write everything first before typing it, so of course, I need to have my pen and
notebook with me too.  Other than those outside things, I have to reread what I wrote the last time to edit and then I can get in the zone.

 Which authors inspire your writing?

I've always been inspired by all kinds of books.  I loved mysteries as a teenager, so all those Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes stories are in my brain rambling around.  Then all the classics I read in college inspired me to write great stories like those.  It's hard to pin down one author who inspires me.  They all do, in some way.

What is your favorite book, character and why?

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes would have to be my favorite, and of course, Sherlock Holmes my favorite character.  Doyle's stories are so well written, so crafted.  I love the character because he's so intellectually superior yet so emotionally crippled.  He's such an incredible study in what a human would be like without emotions that I find myself drawn to read the stories just to try to figure him out.

Do you prefer to write erotic or sweet?

I tend to prefer erotic, if I'm writing romance.  When I'm writing outside the romance genre, I don't include much sex at all in my stories.

Which famous person, living or dead,  are you drawn to?

Alexander Hamilton.  Of all the Founding Fathers, he's the most interesting to me.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years I see myself with my Sons of Navarus series completed...whew, just thinking about all eight books done makes my head spin.  I'll be writing, but I don't know what.  I've been playing around with a fiction story for a while, so I might be there instead of romance.  I just don't know.  Or I might be doing both romance and some other non-romance genre.

Finish this sentence: I know I’ve made it when_______________?

I know I've made it when I only work as an author and can support myself as I do now.

What advice would you give aspiring writers?

Don't be fooled into believing that the ebook revolution means all you need are some words on a page and shazaam—it's a book worth selling.  Grammar is still key, no matter what anyone claims, so know it like you know your name.  Take the time to learn how a well-crafted story is constructed, and above all, remember that everything you publish represents you. A shoddy story full of grammar and factual/historical errors may be tolerated at the $.99 level, but it doesn't change the fact it isn't good.  Time is on the writer's side.  Use it to create the best stories possible.

What do you see yourself writing in the future?

I plan on continuing to write romance as I have the Sons of Navarus series based on eight characters and I'm just readying the second book for release in May.  I can definitely see myself writing in a different genre too, though.

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

I wrote a book entitled Destiny Redeemed and one of my characters had the power to manipulate and travel back in time.  This would be the superpower I would want.  I love the past, so being able to travel back to different times in history and see firsthand what they're like would be incredible.

What time of the day are you at your best to write?

I write at night because I home school my son and then go to my day job until late afternoon.  It's probably best that I write when the sun goes down because I'm a night owl by nature.

And now for something completely different…

What do you look at first with an attractive man or woman, face, body or smile?

I don't know if it's one thing for me.  The men I find attractive tend to have something special about them that just seems to radiate from them even when they're just standing around.  To be honest, though, it's probably the body since what I find attractive facially may be quite different than what others do.

Explain your perfect day.

I wake up and the sun is shining in my window and I can hear the birds outside.  It's already in the low 70s and the forecast is for sun all day.  I exercise and listen to music, and then I eat breakfast.  After that, I spend a few hours working outside in my yard and sitting on my porch enjoying the beautiful day.  A fun lunch with some friends and then I'm back home to hang out with my kids, who are nice enough to carve out some time from their busy schedules to see me (LOL).  Finally, after a great day, I sit down to write and make tremendous progress on whatever book I'm working on.  Now that's a perfect day.

What is the most decadent desert you can’t say no to?

Do you have a favorite holiday what is it and what makes it special to you?

I love the Fourth of July!  When I was a young child, I thought that the fireworks were for my father and me since we shared a birthday on July 7.  And since my uncle's birthday was on July 5 and we'd always have a joint party for all three of us, the idea of fireworks to celebrate the three of us seemed quite logical to my five-year-old mind.  Even now, whenever the Fourth comes around, I think of those days as a child with my family and smile.

What key words describe you best?

Romantic, generous, focused, driven, strong

Sexy Snippet:

She seemed to melt into him, her lips parting under his in a sigh of surrender.,. He needed more, so much more. He deepened the kiss, darting inside the warmth of her sweet mouth, his tongue stroked, coaxed and demanded. She met him with a hunger matching his own. It shook him, heated his blood and sent lust spiraling through his already aching cock. He angled his head, taking the kiss deeper. He needed more of her. He felt her hands in his hair, pulling him closer as they slid down to his shoulders and gripped him tighter. A small moan escaped her lips and he caught her bottom lip, biting gently. The sound of her pleasure hit like a bolt of lightning streaking through his body, into the muscles, bone and very cells of his existence. He felt lifted, traveling on the wings of passion’s flight, not giving a damn about the repercussions. For this brief moment in time, he let the desire sweep him up.
